As a team manager, this template will help you onboard your new team member by using action-driven, peer to peer collaboration as the main learning driver. You can also use this template if you need to reinforce skills and behaviours in team members that are underperforming or to help team members that strive to gain new skills as part of her expected carrier progression.

The core of the technique is in the so called “Shadowings”. We believe hands on experience within team members is the best setup to encourage both the acquisition of new learnings vital for the job and the creation of team belongingness. The Manager, the Buddy and the Newbie will hence agree on a portfolio of real projects to work together in the following couple months. The Newbie shall actively shadow the Buddy on the projects progress, meaning not only performing watch & learn activities but also owning deliverables. Both the Newbie and the Buddy can report to the Manager about progress.
